The Guides: Colleen McFawn and Ashley Whitehurst
Colleen McFawn has been traversing the queer globe, and just the regular globe seeking adventure and new experiences for the past 30 something years. She’s a crafty bitch (no literally, she has a plaque in her office with that title), who is always ready to brainstorm, offer a kind word or engage in any sort of humorous banter. Colleen is the founder and creator of True North Coaching Services, is a practicing occupational therapist and educator.
Ashley Whitehurst has been writing, performing, teaching, and directing improv and sketch comedy throughout the Chicagoland area for a decade. She facilitates/teaches/whatever word you want to use for “bosses people around” improv to encourage innovation to design meaningful educational activities, help with physician wellness, and support emotional connections within communities. Ashley’s happy place is sharing how improv and comedy fundamentals can truly change your life and turn us all into better humans.. You can see what she’s up to at ashleywhitehurst.com.
Expectations for the Compass Series
Respect and Humor
This series is for individuals who want to have unfiltered, yet respectful conversations. It’s okay to ask questions and share opinions, even if they might be stated the ‘wrong’ way or accidentally offend others, as long as the intent is not judgement or cruelty. Expect to be gently corrected if it is.
Met Licensure Criteria
The series meets all criteria for Implicit Bias training which is a state requirement for many healthcare professions today.
Participation
This series is anything but a stuffy educational lecture where you sit back, spectate, and stare at a screen. You’ll be expected to participate, in whatever capacity that is for you, adding your unique and valued perspectives.
