About Us
True North Coaching Services helps people to feel more comfortable discussing queer topics through candid conversation. There is power in education, and power in the spoken word, so we’ve created a community for people to do just that - talk.
Many people may not know who to ask or confide in about thoughts, feelings or questions about the LGBTQIA+ community. Is your profession requiring Implicit Bias or Diversity training, and you’re seeking education and answers? Maybe you identify as LGBTQIA+ and are curious about all the other members of your large community? Or perhaps you are an ally to the community, and have questions or thoughts about what life is like as a queer person? Whoever you are, and whatever you are seeking, True North Coaching Services is here to help, and has a place for you.
The goal of True North Coaching Services is to curate opportunities for people to learn from each other in safe, honest, and respectful spaces. We do that through speaking engagements, approved Implicit Bias trainings, and one-on-one coaching.

Colleen McFawn: Founder and Coach
My name is Colleen (she/her), and I am the founder of True North Coaching Services. I am an occupational therapist, educator, a Dolly Parton super fan, a wife, mother, oh, and I identify as queer. I have shared my story as a speaker and panelist, presenting at healthcare and university conferences about the importance of diversity, equity and inclusivity. My personal journey led me to come out a bit later in life, at 30 years old. I didn’t have female role models in the LGBTQIA+ community to look up to or model, and I also didn’t have many opportunities to talk about the queer community with other people who were in that community. Perhaps if I did, I may have discovered myself a little sooner. But maybe not. Maybe things happened just as they should have.
I have no regrets, but this is also why I created True North Coaching Services. I’m combining my training as an OT -where it’s my job to help people to live their everyday lives as purposefully and independently as possible- and my experiences as a queer person to get conversations going, and get people talking. My personal journey led me to where I am today, married to a wonderful woman, with a beautiful baby.
I LOVE talking and know that that’s where it’s at when it comes to broadening our own horizons. I want to help all those who are seeking answers to find their own true north.
